The reason this page exists is the other half of that traffic — people who wanted a 1-on-1 video chat, found a download page, and would rather not install anything to have a five-minute conversation. That part is worth answering properly.

Nothing lands on your phone's home screen, nothing sits in storage afterwards, and closing the tab is the whole uninstall. On a work laptop or a borrowed machine that matters more than it sounds.

A peachub video call, and what a call here looks like

The phrase people type is usually just shorthand for a video call with someone they have not met. On PeachCam Live that is a private room with two people in it and both cameras running — not a broadcast you watch, and not a feed with an audience attached.

Matching is the only step. You do not browse profiles, pick a room or join a queue. The site puts you with someone who is online and open to a conversation, and when either of you is done, the next one is a tap away.

Audio and text are in the same room if video is not where you want to start. What is not available is a one-way version where you can see the other person while staying off camera yourself.

Peachub 1v1 — exactly two people, no third seat

The "1v1" part is the bit worth being literal about. A room here holds exactly two people. Nobody can drop in to watch, there is no viewer count, and there is no second tier where someone pays to observe quietly. Both sides are visible on the same terms, or the room does not run.

That symmetry is also the safety model. Anyone you meet is on camera themselves, which rules out a large share of the behaviour that one-way formats invite. Report and block sit in every room, and reports are read by people, not only filters.

A home-screen shortcut is not an install

If you end up using it regularly, your browser's own "add to home screen" will put an icon next to everything else. It looks the same as an installed product and behaves differently in the ways that matter.

There is no store account attached to it, nothing to keep updated, and no package sitting in storage. Dragging the icon to the bin removes it completely — there is no leftover data and no account still open somewhere. That is the practical difference between a shortcut and an install, and it is the reason some people prefer the browser version of anything.
